The account of Jacob's life is full on incident and shows how he constantly relied on his God.  In contrast with many commentators, this study seeks to present Jacob in a positive light.  His love for the promises that God made ot his predecessors Abraham and Isaac was the driving force of his whole being.  His interest was directed towards those matters which were external, and it is certain that he is to enjoy an everlasting existence in that land where in fiath he sojourned.
